Me and My Hat!

Thanks to jury duty this morning, I finished this hat (the Wizard's Cap from Kids Knitting, adult sized), which has been, hmm, how shall I put it.... a learning experience....and by learning I mean "mother" and by experience I mean "fu... never mind.
Anyway, it's finally done, and now that I realize the importance of casting on the correct number of stitches, and paying attention to words like "other" especially when they come after words like "every", I may make another which would hopefully take less than 3 months. Here it is, and me in it.

Soaker is done!

I learned, on this project about ribbing, decreasing, knitting back and forth on circulars, putting stitches on a holder and carrying on knitting, and the kitchener stitch (with help from knittinghelp.com)
I also learned that I like to knit with wool yarn.
Scroll down a bit for a link to the pattern.

Knitting Case

Here is the case I made for my knitting needles, patterns, and accessories. I used clear plastic for the front pockets, 3 flat pockets, one large pocket with pleats and a flap.
The entire thing is 2 layers of fabric, 45" home dec from Joann. The bottom fabric is attached in 2 layers, the back one with slots for the needles, and the front one plain so I could sew on the pockets. Then I brought the front layer up and topstitched up the sides, and along the top of the needle slots.
It still needs a closure. I think I'm going to try to find a ribbon.

New on the needles

The next project is the Little Turtle Knits Cabled Cap, adult sized. The yarn is Malabrigo kettle dyed pure merino wool, worsted weight, and very soft. The colors are varigated brown and red.

Brown soaker

Here is is, almost done! I am so happy with it.

Ten rows up, twenty rows back...

Before knitting class this was the hat.....

This was the hat after class....
After the teacher asked if I was reducing every round, or every other. After I said I didn't care that it was wrong and that it would just be for someone with a small head. After I handed the hat to her, and she took out all those lovely rows.

Pink & Black Dipe

Outer is 97% cotton, 3% spandex. Inner is 2 body layers of french stretch terry, and a hidden soaker of 2 layers of french terry. Soaker is 3 layers french terry, 2 layers black jersey. Very Baby Diapers, size small, but probably more like newborn since I didn't add the seam allowance before turning and top stitching.

Oh, yes, I knit, too.

I'm making a Punk Knitters Soaker, it's going slow but it's going well. Nice chocolate brown New Zealand wool, it smells like a lamb.

Lots of new diapers.

New diapers for Audrey's friend's new baby sister. Very Baby Fitted Diapers and Snug Wrap Pattern. Mostly cotton jersey with terry inners. Covers are PUL, 1 plain 2 with fabric outers. Some flannel & terry soakers. And a pile of dipes and covers.
